Rockin’ M Ranch offers quality horseback trail rides easily accessible from Jackson Hole, Star Valley, and the Alpine Wyoming areas. We pride ourselves in smaller more personable rides, great trails, and friendly experienced guides.
When looking for the right horseback ride you will likely find everything from a short touristy ride at the local ski resort to an all day adventurous ride in the area mountains. With Rockin’ M, our experienced guides will tailor your ride to fit your ability, comfort level and expectations. With several trails to choose from, horseback rides can range from a slow paced tour around the ranch area to an all day adventure to the top of a 10,000 foot peak or a picturesque high mountain lake. With Rockin’ M, groups are kept small (under 8) and personable. Our horseback riding trips are about quality and not quantity.
On our horseback rides, we often see Deer, Elk, Moose, Bald Eagles, Swans, coyotes or other wildlife. Due to the private nature of our Horse trails, we rarely see other people.
This ride is geared towards the small child, timid adult or someone who may not be comfortable being in the saddle for an extended time. Originating from our Rockin’ M stable your guide will tour your group around the Salt River riparian areas. This ride will have some small water crossings and a good chance to see some wildlife that typically live along the rivers edge including ducks, geese, bald eagles, Moose, deer, and coyotes.
The two hour ride departs from the horse stables at the beautiful Rockin’ M Ranch. Expect to see stunning panoramic views, wildflower meadows, and wildlife as this ride gains elevation into the Targhee National forest. We often give guest the option for a river crossing at the end of the ride, conditions permitting.
This is a continuous “in the saddle” ride. This is for the rider who wants to cover the most country for the amount of time spent in the saddle. We will cover a similar distance and trails to our half day without the break 1/2 way through for lunch. This ride will consist of some smaller “in the saddle breaks” for pictures.
Our most popular ride! Similar to the three hour ride, but we will take a break half way through the ride. Riders can take this opportunity stretch the legs, visit, and take in the 360 degree breathtaking view from the “Vista” while your guide cooks you a delicious mountain top lunch. This is a large loop trail, keeping the scenery ever changing. We offer an optional river crossing at the end of the ride, conditions permitting.
Your guide will be at your disposal for the whole day for just your group. No one will be added to your ride. Go at your pace, take as many pictures and breaks as you desire. Communicate with your guide at the start of your ride whether you would like a very laid back day or a vigorous mountain ride or perhaps something in between. It’s your day!! During the day your guide will prepare you a mountain top barbeque style lunch. Before booking this trip please make sure everyone in the group is comfortable with being in the saddle for an extended period of time.
The Rockin’ M Ranch Salt River location enables us to offer a very unique and exclusive full day adventure. Your guide will start your day with a 3-4 hour morning horseback ride originating from the onsite Rockin’ M stables. Upon finishing your morning horseback adventure you will enjoy a delicious riverside lunch while your guide makes the transition from the horses to the river.
The afternoon will be spent fly fishing with your guide navigating you and your fishing partner down the Salt River, from a drift boat, casting at Cutthroat, Rainbow, and Brown trout. At the completion of your fishing adventure you will end up back at the Rockin’ M Ranch Salt River boat ramp.
All equipment, lunch, and drinks are provided for this horseback/fly fishing adventure. Your guide will give a fly fishing/horseback riding lesson for those new to the sport. Spin fishing available upon request.
