I am happy to report that the 2017 winter season is off to a great start. Winter showed up at the beginning of the weekend and the forecast doesn’t show it leaving anytime soon. Single digit lows predicted for the mid-week and more snow on Thursday. The local ski resorts have announced Thanksgiving openings with Targhees’ snotel at 51″ and 24″ of new snow in the last 72 hours. Jackson Hole Resort is reporting 12″ in the last 48 hours. The Blind Bull Snotel site (30 miles up the Greys River) went from 10″ on November 3rd to 32″ today, November 6th. Spring Creek (Afton end of the Valley) is at 20″. Willow Creek (Bedford) 28″. Phillips Bench (Teton Pass Jackson Hole) 28″. Box Y Lodge is showing 7″.
